The Mortal Instruments - Cassandra Clare

Finally we've reached this series and I will easily say this is one of the most impressively written series I've ever read save the HP series. (Yep a total Potter fan) The amount of detail, drama and character energy that Cassandra Clare has put into this entire series makes me...

Yeah that. Have you ever read a book and the entire world around you stops because you're so deep into theirs. That's how I felt reading every book in this series. Clary and Jace are such an unusual couple but they work so perfectly. In most books I never thought I could love every character involved but I do. Oh I so do. From Simon, Magnus and oh my god please lets not forget crazy..but sexy Sebastian. Even though he's really messed up and twisted I have to say he makes bad look good on so many levels.

This was my first Cassandra Clare book but I've been a fan of everything else she writes since. I literally stalk her online to find out when her newest series are coming. >.> That's not totally weird at all.

So this book begins pretty slow in the first few chapters with the three main characters being, Clary (red-headed curious George), Simon (witty best friend) and Jace (sexy shadow hunter). Cassandra Clare has created an entire new world for these characters while taking bits and pieces from other inspirations. The world revolves around shadow hunters (Nemphlin) and demons. The Shadow hunters were created when the Angel Raziel mixed his blood with human blood in the Mortal Cup. They're trained from birth to fight demons and the keep them at bay. So the creatures in this book are much like others with their own spin, lets forget warlocks and vampires who make many appearances through out the series.

One day when Clary and her best friend Simon decide to check out an unusual club she ends up witnessing the murder of a blue-haired teenage boy - the only problem is no one else saw. Not even her friend Simon which leads her to believe she's gone completely insane.

One of the murderers ends up following her around until she eventually confronted him to speak, that is when we met Jace. During the odd conversation where he tries to figure out why she can see him her entire world gets turned upside down when she receives a disturbing call from her mother pleading her not to come home.

Of course.. she did not listen and raced home only to find her home in a mess and her mother gone. As fear trickles inside of her, things get so much worse when a monster reveals itself with the intent to have her for a snack. Jace intervenes and with his help and blade she killed her first demon. From that day she found out she too was a shadow hunter and her world would never be the same again.

The struggles of suddenly being tossed into a new world with new problems takes a toll on Clary but with the help of Jace, his brother and sister (Alec and Isabella) and Simon, she takes on difficult challenges as she and those four teenagers work to stop demons from taking over the world.

I really want to go into on who Magnus and Sebastian are because they're literally my favorites of this series but I honestly cannot live with myself if I spoil th~is masterpiece series for you. Five star ratings from me, go buy it!
