The Iron Fey - Julie Kagawa

“Touch her, and I'll freeze your testicles off and put them in a jar. Understand?” - Ash That's just a taste of what to expect when you read this enchanting book of Julie Kagawa's world of the Fey. Before reading this book I was not a fan of the Fey theme. I thought that each series would be a copy of years of Disney movies but Julie Kagawa has proven me wrong. I have learned they can be dangerous, witty, sexy, and strong. ~~ Summary: The story resolves around a sixteen year old Meghan Chase. Despite the fact that she lives her life like any other young teenager, she has always felt like something was wrong. Ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six and no one believed her, she has never quite fit in at school or at home. When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change. But she could never have guessed the truth - that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war between three fey courts. Now Meghan will learn just how far she will go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil, no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a young prince who in turn opens his icy heart to her and sacrifices everything for her.

Is my reaction after completing this series. My god this was so well written, I need to stand and applaud Julie for this amazing series that changed my entire view on fey books.

~~

Okay first let me start with the characters, Meghan, Puck, Ash, Mab, Grimalkin, and that other King who no one cares about. >.> I loved these characters because they are so realistic, so relentless and so inspiring.

Meghan’s character. That's all I can say about this amazing woman who is independent and strong but not arrogant or selfless. I am sorry, but I get so tired of reading about the same female characters who cry and whine and do not want to take responsibility for anything they do. This character was so refreshing. Puck, Ash & Grimalkin all work so well no matter the situation. They all just have a good vibe and each of them has something about them that makes them shine.

~~

The plot is what moves me so much and I have cried a lot through these books. First Meghan fights everything in her path to get her brother back and then she and Ash go to the ends of the earth just so they can be together. Ash the ice prince who once had a frozen heart risk everything, including his life to be with the woman he loves.

That's the kind of books I like to read, the ones that inspire us to never give up. I also love that she did not overdo the series with a bunch of useless books that dragged on forever. There is not much to say I think this is my favorite series of all hers. I give it five stars and worth a read on any day.
