Nightshade Prequel

Andrea Creamer

I'm normally not a fan of books about wolves, but this series was pretty darn awesome and it had everything from the forbidden love, magic, evil vs good and an epic main female. I really loved Ember because she embodies what it means to be strong and yet feminine. She did not back down when danger came, oh no she got in it's face. Ember is a girl's girl and Andrea did amazing with this book.

Summary:

Ember Morrows is a sixteen-year old girl who is suffocated by her father’s rules to be married off at a young age. So when she’s called to fulfill a family obligation to join the Conatus Guard, she is more than thrilled to be away from her father’s strict rules. Once there, Ember is trained as a guard to help fight the evil in the world, but when one of her leaders starts dabbling in dark magic Ember must choose which side she’s on.

Aside from the amazing characters and the amazing plot, the style of writing was very unique. She's very good at taking classic things and putting her own twist on it. The characters are completely different to those who are in Nightshade and I loved the change of them. In some books, you see the same type of character over and over, but Andrea is truly an artist of the written word.

Ember is a strong, determined and a courageous young girl, she wants to throw herself into the firing line and help stop the evil of the world. With the guard, she can be who she wants to be without anyone stopping her based on her gender.

Barrow = Hottie main. Is just wonderful in every way possible, he is strong, patient, caring and brave. He fights his attraction for Ember at first because she needed a friend and teacher more than a lover, but he eventually cannot help it and falls in love with her.

With him at her side she overcomes a lot and finds the stronger and better version of herself. They have a rocky path, trying to be in a relationship when the world around them is falling into pieces. It kind of reminds me of 'A court of thorns and roses'.

I loved everything about this series and would still read it over and over because these are one of those books that never truly get old. Thank you Creamer.

Series Rating: ★★★★
